Lea is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the University of Illinois Chicago. She is a clinical psychologist who works with children and adolescents with a wide range of medical, neurodevelopmental, genetic, psychiatric, and learning disorders through the Pediatric Neuropsychology Clinic at UIC. Lea believes in the Cities Project because research suggests that positive peer mentors have the greatest impact on the academic, vocational, and social/emotional success of at-risk youth. The Cities Project has developed a successful peer leadership model that utilizes a consistent and broad based program to support, guide, and encourage youth during a formative period in their lives. With this mentorship program, we can equip youth with the tools necessary to access higher education, improve mental health outcomes, and enhance overall quality of life.
