Devin Carey is a pediatric clinical psychologist at Lurie Children’s Primary Care-Town & Country Pediatrics where she provides evidence-based assessment, consultation, and intervention for children, adolescents, and their families within an integrated-primary care setting. She is excited to join the Associate Board because she has a long-standing interest in promoting positive adjustment for at-risk youth and believes the Cities Mentor Project is an effective, research-based approach that reduces negative outcomes associated with severe and chronic stressors experienced by impoverished students. During graduate school at Loyola University of Chicago, Devin's research focused predictors of risk and resilience in youth exposed to community violenceand she was involved in the development and administration of intervention programs that aimed to reduce stress and promote psychological well-being, working with students across several neighborhoods on the South Side of Chicago. By supporting the Cities Mentor Project, Devin hopes to be able to continue this commitment to community-based intervention and work towards the goal of every low-income Chicago Public School student having the opportunity to take part in Cities Mentor Project!
